Tacks Latimer

Clifford Wesley "Tacks" Latimer (November 30, 1877 in Loveland, Ohio – April 24, 1936 in Loveland) was a professional baseball player who played catcher from 1898–1902.
After his playing career ended Latimer became a police officer with the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1924 he was involved in a dispute with another police officer and shot him four times in the back. Latimer was found guilty of second degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.〔(BIOPROJ.SABR.ORG :: The Baseball Biography Project. ) at bioproj.sabr.org〕 He was eventually pardoned in 1930 for his heroism during a prison riot.
